6. DIY Cinder Block Bench

Cinder blocks (CMUs) are less than $2 each at most hardware stores. With a few 4×4 pieces of lumber, you can build a modern, architectural bench.

  • The Construction: Stack the blocks on their sides so the holes are exposed, slide the lumber through the holes, and add outdoor cushions.
  • The Look: Paint the blocks a charcoal grey or leave them raw for an industrial-modern feel.
