12. Hay Bale Display Stand

Hay bales are fall decorating’s best multi-tasker — they create instant height and layers, giving your display a styled, dimensional look instead of everything sitting flat on the ground. One or two small bales are plenty.
Top them with pumpkins and flank them with mums, and you’ve got a harvest scene that looks like it took all afternoon but came together in twenty minutes.
What You’ll Need
- 1–2 small square hay bales
- Pumpkins and gourds in assorted sizes
- Potted mum for the side
How to Make
- Set the hay bales near the door or along the porch edge, stacked two high for drama or side by side for width.
- Arrange pumpkins on top in a cluster, letting the smallest ones mound on top like a cornucopia.
- Place a potted mum beside the bales and tuck a plaid ribbon or bow around the bale for extra charm.
