6. Lanterns with Warm Candlelight

Cluster of black metal lanterns with glowing LED candles on fall porch steps

As the days get shorter, lighting is what makes a porch feel magical instead of merely decorated. A cluster of lanterns with flameless candles gives you that warm evening glow with zero fire risk.

Group three lanterns of different heights together — black metal or wood frames look best with the fall palette — and let the soft flicker do the work once the sun goes down.

What You’ll Need

  • 3 lanterns in varying heights
  • Battery-operated LED candles with timers
  • Small pumpkins to nest around the base (optional)

How to Make

  1. Place the tallest lantern at the back of your grouping and step the shorter ones forward.
  2. Drop an LED candle into each lantern and set the timer for dusk-to-bedtime hours.
  3. Nest a few mini pumpkins around the bases to tie the cluster into your fall display.
