5. Corn Stalk Door Framing

Tall dried corn stalks tied to porch columns framing a decorated front door

Tall, dramatic corn stalks add instant height and frame your doorway like nature’s own curtains. They’re cheap, widely available at farm stands, and give even a small porch a grand entrance feel.

For the trendy moody look, pair them with a dark wreath and deep-colored mums rather than bright orange everything — the tan stalks balance rich colors beautifully.

What You’ll Need

  • 4–6 dried corn stalks
  • Twine or garden wire
  • Scissors

How to Make

  1. Gather two or three stalks into a bundle and tie firmly with twine about a third of the way down.
  2. Stand each bundle against a porch column or door frame and secure with garden wire wrapped discreetly behind.
  3. Trim the tops evenly with scissors if any stalk towers awkwardly above the rest.
