5. Woven Yarn Coasters
If you have leftover yarn scraps from a knitting or crochet project rolled up in your craft stash, you can weave them into colorful, boho-chic drink coasters. Start by cutting a piece of thick cardboard into a square or circle of your desired coaster size. Cut evenly spaced slits along opposite edges of the cardboard shape, spaced about a quarter of an inch apart. This will act as your makeshift loom.
Weave a long strand of base yarn back and forth through the slits from top to bottom, pulling it taut to create your warp threads. Then, take your colorful yarn scraps and weave them horizontally over and under the vertical warp threads, packing the rows tightly together as you go. Alternate colors to create stripes or geometric patterns. Once you reach the end, carefully slip the loops off the cardboard loom and tie off the ends neatly on the back side. These charming textile coasters protect your wooden furniture while adding a cozy, handmade touch to your coffee table.
