7. Hand-Painted Greeting Cards

Store-bought greeting cards can be surprisingly expensive, and nothing beats the personal touch of a hand-crafted note. Whenever you find yourself with blank cardstock, thick watercolor paper scraps, or even plain white printer paper folded in half, you have the canvas for a custom greeting card. You do not need to be a professional fine artist to create something beautiful and meaningful for friends and family.
Experiment with simple watercolor washes, geometric ink patterns, minimalist botanical sketches, or sponge-stamping techniques using whatever paints or markers you currently own. If you have old buttons, dried flowers, or ribbon scraps, glue them onto the front of the card to add wonderful texture and dimension. Write a heartfelt message on the inside, and you will have a unique, thoughtful card ready for birthdays, thank-you notes, or just to brighten someone’s day.
