5. Wall-Mounted Rope Hanging Basket

5

Floor space is precious in small homes, which is exactly why wall-mounted rope baskets are such a clever solution. Hang them in the entryway for keys and mail, in the bathroom for rolled towels, or in the bedroom as a quirky alternative to a nightstand.

Materials: A small coiled rope basket, a piece of driftwood or a wooden dowel, four pieces of natural jute twine, a drill, two wall hooks or screws.

Instructions: Drill two small holes on each side of the basket near the rim. Cut four equal lengths of jute twine (roughly 12–18 inches depending on how high you want it to hang). Thread two pieces through each side of the basket and tie them securely to the wooden dowel, one set near each end. Mount the dowel on the wall using two hooks or screws placed slightly wider than the dowel ends.

Time: 45 minutes. Difficulty: Beginner.

This style works especially well in kid’s rooms for stuffed animals or in laundry rooms for stray socks. Use heavier-duty anchors if you’re planning to load it up with something heavy like books.
