2. Fabric-Lined Bathroom Storage Basket

The entryway is often the most neglected storage zone in a house. A set of stacked rope baskets gives every family member a place to drop their stuff without creating that dreaded pile of mystery items on the kitchen counter.
Materials: Two or three coiled rope baskets in graduated sizes, chalkboard paint, small wooden tags or binder clips, chalk marker.
Instructions: Make or buy baskets in nesting sizes so they stack neatly. Paint a small wooden tag or flat area on the front of each basket with chalkboard paint. Once dry, label each basket with a chalk marker: “Mail,” “Keys,” “Dog Leash,” “Chargers,” or whatever your household needs. Stack them on a narrow entryway table or directly on a small bench.
Time: 1 hour for the basket, plus drying time for paint. Difficulty: Beginner.
Switching out the labels keeps the system flexible as your needs change. The chalkboard paint also works on the basket itself if you prefer a seamless look.
