3. Whimsical Pressed Flower and Tulle Art

3

Most people associate embroidery with solid fabrics like cotton, linen, or denim. However, swapping out traditional fabric for sheer tulle opens up a whole new world of delicate, floating designs. Using tulle as your base makes it look as though your embroidery is magically suspended in mid-air inside the wooden hoop. Adding real pressed flowers to this setup creates a whimsical, ethereal piece of art.

To create this project, sandwich a piece of fine, high-quality tulle in your hoop. Take dried, pressed flowers and arrange them gently on the tulle. To secure them, use a single strand of embroidery floss to stitch carefully over the stems, or use a tiny dab of clear-drying craft glue. To complement the natural elements, embroider simple green leaves or lazy daisy stitches directly onto the tulle around the real flowers. Because tulle is delicate, make sure not to pull your thread too tight, or you may distort the mesh. The final result is a breathtaking, preservation-style frame that brings the beauty of the outdoors inside.
