3. Monogrammed Doormat for the Entryway

3

A personalized doormat welcomes guests with charm the moment they step up to your door. Using stencil vinyl on a plain coir or rubber mat, you can layer initials, family names, or a sweet phrase to greet every arrival.

You will need a blank doormat (a flat-weave style works best for crisp lines), adhesive stencil vinyl, a stiff brush, outdoor acrylic paint, painter’s tape, and a sealer spray. Cut your design from stencil vinyl, weed it, and apply it firmly to the mat. Press the edges down well so paint doesn’t bleed underneath. Dab paint on with a brush using an up-and-down motion, let it dry, and add a second coat if needed.

The project takes about two hours including drying time and sits at a beginner-to-intermediate level. Budget-friendly alternatives include using leftover floor mats from previous seasons or picking up a clearance mat at the end of summer. Display it on a covered porch to extend the life of the paint, and seal with a clear matte spray to protect against scuffing.
