7. Sturdy Wooden Toy Airplanes

7

Fuel your child’s imagination and transport them to the skies with these sturdy wooden toy airplanes. This project is fantastic for encouraging active, imaginative play long after the crafting process is complete. To construct one airplane, you will need three standard-sized popsicle sticks, one wooden spring-loaded clothespin, one mini craft stick, a wooden bead, glue, and vibrant acrylic paints. The clothespin serves as the fuselage (body) of the plane, while the sticks form the wings and tail fins.

Begin by painting all the components in bold, contrasting colors, such as a bright red body with yellow wings. Once dry, glue one standard popsicle stick horizontally across the top of the clothespin near the pinching end to create the upper wing. Glue the second standard stick directly underneath the clothespin, parallel to the top wing, to form a sturdy biplane wing structure. Next, glue the mini craft stick horizontally across the very back tail end of the clothespin to create the horizontal stabilizer. To make the propeller, cut a standard stick in half, glue the two rounded ends together at an angle, and top the center with a small wooden bead. Glue this propeller assembly to the front nose of the clothespin. Kids will love flying their custom aircraft around the living room or yard.
