7. Paper Bat Wall Swarm

Flock of black paper bats flying across a living room wall above pumpkins

A swarm of paper bats is the highest-impact, lowest-cost decor here — a whole flock for about fifty cents. Folded 3D wings catch the light and cast tiny shadows, so the bats look like they are moving.

Start low near a console table and sweep upward for a natural flight path. It photographs beautifully — expect your party pics to get extra attention.

What You’ll Need

  • Black cardstock or construction paper
  • Bat template (print one or draw a simple shape)
  • Scissors
  • Removable adhesive dots or painter’s tape
  • Pencil

How to Make

  1. Trace the bat template onto cardstock and cut out 15-25 bats in mixed sizes.
  2. Fold each bat slightly down the middle so the wings lift.
  3. Stick an adhesive dot on the back of each bat.
  4. Arrange on the wall in a sweeping flight path, larger bats lower, smaller higher.
  5. Step back, adjust the spacing, and enjoy your swarm.
