5. Seed Bead Stretch Bracelet

Seed beads are those tiny round beads (usually around 2mm to 3mm) that come in seemingly every color of the rainbow. They’re a gateway into the wider world of bead weaving, and a simple seed bead stretch bracelet is the perfect entry point.
The bracelet is made by stringing rows of seed beads onto elastic cord. The end result feels delicate, light, and very giftable. It also takes a surprising number of beads, so this is a great project for working through a stash of seed beads you’ve been wondering what to do with.
Materials: Stretch cord (0.5mm works well for seed beads), two or three colors of seed beads, scissors, jewelry glue, optional beading needle.
Time: 1 to 1.5 hours
Difficulty: Beginner-friendly with a bit of patience
For a five-row bracelet, cut five pieces of elastic, each about three times your wrist length. String each piece with a single color or pattern, then lay them parallel to each other. Tie all five strands together at each end with a tight overhand knot, then a surgeon’s knot, and finish with a dab of glue.
A simpler variation is a single-strand seed bead bracelet, which works well with a 2-1-1 color pattern. The slim profile layers beautifully with other bracelets and makes a wonderful everyday piece. Many crafters find seed bead work almost meditative, since the rhythm of stringing tiny beads is naturally calming.
